The three steps that make shots repeatable — plus the brushes to keep them that way.
If your espresso is sour one morning and bitter the next, the usual cause is not the machine. It is the coffee bed: clumped from the grinder, uneven in the basket, tamped at a slight angle. The Starter Kit is the smallest set of tools that fixes that, for people who would rather not buy six things at once.
The routine
- Ring on — the magnetic dosing ring keeps the grounds in the basket, not on the counter.
- Stir — the WDT tool breaks up clumps so water cannot run through a soft spot.
- Tamp — the calibrated spring tamper clicks at the same pressure every time, so your tamp stops being a variable.
- Screen on — the puck screen spreads the water and keeps the group head clean.
What's in the box
- WDT tool with stand — €16.95 separately
- Magnetic dosing ring — €14.95
- Calibrated spring tamper, clicks at a consistent pressure — €22.95
- Puck screen — €11.95
- Barista cleaning brush set, five pieces — €11.95
Separately that is €78.75. As a kit, €55.
What this fixes, and what it doesn't
It makes your preparation repeatable and your counter clean. It does not fix stale beans, a grinder that will not hold its setting, or a pressurised basket. If you have no scale yet, buy one first — that matters more than any of this. Ours is €39.95; any accurate 0.1 g scale will do.
Prep Kit or Starter Kit?
The Starter Kit uses a calibrated spring tamper, which teaches consistent pressure. The Prep Kit uses a self-levelling palm tamper, which is faster and harder to get wrong, and adds the tamping mat and shot glass. Both cover the same four steps.

60seconds
The routine
The 60-second routine
Most sour or bitter shots come from uneven puck prep, not from your machine or your beans. Four quick steps fix it.
- 1Dose
Grind straight into the portafilter. The magnetic dosing ring keeps it off the counter.
- 2Stir
Break up every clump with the WDT tool for an even bed of coffee.
- 3Tamp
The palm tamper rests on the rim and presses perfectly level, every time.
- 4Screen & brew
Drop in the puck screen for even water flow, then pull your shot.

All FAQsWhich size do I need?
Most De'Longhi machines use 51mm, Sage / Breville use 54mm, and Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia and E61 machines use 58mm. Our fit guide lists every common machine.
What's the difference between the kits?
The Starter Kit has a click-stop spring tamper and cleaning brushes. The Espresso Prep Kit is our full workflow with a weighted palm tamper, tamping mat and shot glass. The Latte Art Set is for milk drinks and fits every machine.
How much is shipping?
Tracked shipping is free on orders over €50. Smaller orders pay a flat €4.95. Delivery takes 5–8 business days to the UK, 6–10 to Canada and 8–15 to Australia, always tracked.
Do I really need all these tools?
No, but together they fix the most common problems: clumps, uneven tamping and channelling. That's why they're sold as a kit. You can also buy each tool on its own.
Can I return or exchange?
Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to return unused items or swap to another size. See returns & exchanges.
